1. Kalki Krishnamurthy
Kalki Krishnamurthy is one of the most favorite writers in Tamil literature. He writes many social novels, historical novels, short stories. He is known as is knick name Kalki. He was a journalist, critic, and writer. He got ‘Sathitya Academi Award’ for his novel ‘Alai Osai’in 1956. Once in 1999, Kalki Krishnamurthi’s sketch was on a stamp of India. His birth name was Ramaswamy Aiyer Krishnamurthy. Kalki Krishnamurthi was his pen name. He was born on 9 September 1899 in Puthamangalam, near Manalmedu, India and he died on 5 December 1954 in Chennai, India. He was 55 years old when he died. His historical novel ‘Solaimalai Ilavarasi (1947)’ is viral in Tamil literature. It was about the independence of India.
2. Thi. Janakiraman
Thi. Janakiraman is a famous Tamil writer from Tamil Nadu, India. He is one of the significant figures of the 20th century in Tamil literature fiction. He received five lakhs for his stylus from the late chief minister M. Karunanidhi. He was a civil servant in his earlier life. He was born on February 28, 1921, and died in 1982, 18 November(61). His well-known novels are Mogamul, Sembaruthi, and Amma Vandhaal. Moga Mul is the best of them. A film was created based on Moga Mul’s story On 14 May 1995. He wrote more than 100 short stories, a dozen novels, Travelogues, translated novels, etc. He got the ‘Sahitya Academi Award’ in 1979 for his short story collection ‘Sakthi Vaidhiyam.
3. Ashokamitran
Jagadisa Thyagarajan is the pen name of Ashokamitran. He was born on 22 September 1931 – and died on 23 March 2017. He was a novelist. He wrote over 200 short stories, eight novels, 15 novellas besides other prose writings. Most of his books have also translated into English and other Indian languages including Hindi, Malayalam, and Telugu. He got many awards, including Sathiya Akademi Award, Akshara Award, National award instituted by the Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad at Kolkata, Illakiya Chinthani award twice in 1977 and 1984, Lily Memorial Award, etc.
4. Indira Parthasarathy
Indira Parthasarathy is known as Eeepaa. He is the only Tamil writer to receive both the Sahitya Akademi Award and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. He also got a fourth highest civilian award named ‘Padma Shri’ in the year 2010. He was born on 10 July 1930 in Chennai. He wrote many novels, short stories, and many exciting Plays. The film Marupakkam based on his novel Uchi Veyyil, which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film.
5. C. S. Lakshmi
C. S. Lakshmi is an Indian feminist author and independent researcher in women’s studies from India. She was born in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, in 1944. She completed her B.A from Madras Christian College and M.A from Bangalore and her Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. She was a school teacher, and later she joined as a lecturer in a college. Ambai is her pen name. She writes many short stories, novels, novella and bibliography, and many books in English. Siragukal Muriyum is one of her notable novels.
6. Thi. Ka. Sivasankaran
He was born on 30 March 1925 in Tirunelveli, Tamilnadu. He got many awards, such as Sahitya Akademi Award (2000), Government of Tamil Nadu literary award (2002), Bharathi Ilakkiya award, Lilly Deivasigamani Literary Trust award, Tamil Sanror Peravai award. He is the father of Tamil writer Vannadhasan. She died on 25 March 2014 (aged 88) in Tirunelveli.
7. G. Thilakavathi
G. Thilakavathi is a police officer and Tamil writer from Tamil Nadu, India. She was born in 1951 in Dharmapuri, Tamil Nadu. She also completes her childhood from there. Her first short story published in 1987. Alai Puralum Karakoram is one of her poetry collections.
8. A. S. Gnanasambandan
A. S. Gnanasambanthan was a Tamil writer, scholar and literary critic from Tamil Nadu, India. He was born on 10 November 1916 and died on 27 August 2002 is Arasankudi, Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu. Aa. Sa. Gna. was his pen name. His full name is Arasankudi Saravana Gnanasambanthan. He was also a scriptwriter. His first noted book Ravanan, Maatchiyum Veezhchiyum was published in 1945. He got Sahitya Akademi Award in 1985, Sangappalagai Kural Peedam award in 2001. He was the head of the Tamil Nadu Text Book Society during 1969–72.
9. Lakshmi Thiripurasundari
Lakshmi Thiripurasundari was born on 21 March 1921 and died on 7 January 1987. She was a writer and a scriptwriter. She was Sahitya Akademi award winner (1984). Her first novel is Bhavani. Lakshmi Thiripurasundari was a doctor in real life. She completed her study from Stanley Medical College.
10. Ki. Va. Jagannathan
